Robbin's and my 18th Wedding Anniversary

Well, today I was going to take Robbin out to a nice restaurant for our 18th anniversary.  But at the last minute we found out that her brother was coming to town overnight, so we had pizza at the house with the family instead.  For those of you that pester me to be sure to "date" Robbin, I pledge to take her out to Steak & Ale on Tuesday night.  She is the love of my life and I love her with all my heart!

2008 Youth Camp - Day 4 - 11:29 p.m.

This is our last entry from camp.  The service tonight was wonderful.  God moved wonderfully in our youth's lives, and we look forward to seeing you parents tomorrow!

2008 Youth Camp - Day 4 - June 12, 2008 - 4:47 p.m.

This is our last full day of camp.  Parents, get ready for your youth coming home tomorrow.  Our service last night was great, with the speaker addressing giving our lives to Christ.  At the altars we spent time seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  Of course, the day is filled with fun and games, as these photos show.

2008 Youth Camp - Day 2 - June 10, 2008 - 11:45 p.m.

We had a great day at camp today.  The photos tell the story.  And two of our girls received the Holy Spirit tonight with the evidence of speaking in another language!  The service tonight did not end until 10:40, and after that the whole youth group spent 30 minutes sharing all that the Lord is doing in our lives.

We had a great first day and a great service.  The preacher spoke on the importance of prayer in our lives.  Here's some photos from the afternoon and evening.

2008 Youth Camp - Day 1 - June 9, 2008 - 2:11 p.m.

Hi, parents and church family!  Here's the group leaving the church (notice the parents all upset to be losing their youth for a week!), eating at McDonalds, and arriving at camp.  I'll update again tonight after the evening service.  Let's all be praying for God to touch each of our young people's lives.

The wonderful people who make this church work!

Ray and Cynthia tending to our church grounds.Take a look at the two photos in this day's blog.  These are the type of people who make this church what it is!  Ray and Cynthia Dragoo, with their daughter Emma, are working hard on their plot of ground at the Park Crest campus.  They took to heart the request for King's Servants to care for God's house.  Their area is the planter around the church sign.  What a blessing to have volunteers putting their gardening skills to work.

Royal Ranger volunteer leaders preparing for the Pow Wow.The next photo is of some of our Royal Ranger leaders on Wednesday night preparing for the Pow Wow that started the next day.  I watched as they carefully prepared for the next four days.  Jerry Freeman, Jeff Carr, Rick Akins, and Rick Dostal represent our finest!  Thank you, men, for giving of your time and energy to draw our boys closer to Jesus.

These volunteers represent the hundreds of volunteers who make this church what it is.  To each volunteer, I say "thank you" with all my heart.

Preaching at Calvary Temple and evening service

What a privilege to be able to speak at our Calvary Temple site.  As I look over our church family that meets at our midtown location, my heart wells within me, thanking God for the joy of having an extended church family.  Sunday morning I took the photos of two more people on my iPhone so that they could be added to my prayer photo albums.  Sunday night was also a wonderful time for the church family.  We pastors have no greater joy than to see the church family gathered on their knees at the front altars seeking the Lord.

Missionette picnic

Here's some photos from my iPhone of the Missionette picnic Wednesday afternoon at the Park Crest campus.  What a great time to get together and fellowship and let the girls have a blast.  Thank you to all the wonderful leaders who make this possible!

Birthday and Anniversary Cards

I'm approaching five years of writing birthday and anniversary cards for the church family at Park Crest.  Each day I have somewhere around four or five cards to fill out.  It is most obvious that the years are passing by when I write the cards for our children and teens.  But all of us are getting older.  Some of the recipients of my cards used to live here in Springfield but have moved out of state.  If possible, I still write them a note wishing them a blessed birthday or anniversary.  Each card, each name is another reminder of the wonderful church family that God has given us at Park Crest Calvary Temple!  This morning I'm filling out eight cards, so I better get back to writing.  In case you're wondering, the birthday and anniversary folks I'm writing to today are:  Heather, Dan, Mike & Barb, Mike & Sinda, Casey & Lindsay, Arlene, and Doug & Lin.

My Date with Brian

Today I had the opportunity to go out with my son Brian, just the two of us.  Robbin went out for some shopping and Brandon and Matthew stayed at home playing video games, so Brian and I did some errands and had some cheeseburgers at McDonalds.  Here's a photo of Brian with his buddy Ronnie.

Photos from Memorial Weekend Picnic

Here are some photos I took on my iPhone while at the church picnic.  We had a wonderful time, all the way through to the fireworks!  Matthew and I spent the night on the land, sleeping in the SUV.  It started raining in the middle of the night and all the way through the morning.  Sure made us glad to be in the vehicle, and not in a tent like the rest! Click here to go to the church family website to view more picnic photos.

Launch of my personal blog

Park Crest Calvary Temple's website has just launched this week, and part of our enhanced and updated site are the blogs and news of our co-pastors, Alan and I. I am excited to enter into new territory. If technology can help me reach more people for Christ, then I gladly jump into it.
